IN THE OFFICE* Commercial grade machines: Multiple users dominate this category. Anywhere that documents are generated needs a shredder for “at the source” destruction. Copy areas, mailrooms, fax machines, small departments all need to have easy access to shredders. Normal daily office paper flows demand immediate destruction to prevent security leaks. Size of model depends on the number of users and the frequency of confidential data production. All office size models boast continuous duty motors, larger capacities, and faster speeds to accommodate more users. Quiet operation and modern design allow easy integration into the most up to date office environment.

IN THE DEPARTMENT* Large Volume/ High powered machines: Horsepower and space allow the large department to shred quantities all day. This model range is built to accommodate stacks of papers and media. Rapidly destroys stacks of paper without operator downtime. Businesses having larger volumes of data can protect themselves with “in house” shredding and avoid the dangers of private information leaving the premises. Conveyor belts, compactors, baling systems and hoppers dominate. Consultation with shredder experts can make the proper fit for current as well as future shredding needs. CrossCut vs. StripCut: Basically, it is either: A security need for more sensitive documents (use the cross cut) A speed need to shred and go more quickly (use the strip cut) A budget need to shred at a less expensive rate (use the strip cut) Or A need to lessen the number of trips to empty the basket (use the cross cut) *Continuous duty motors insure non-stop shredding without the need to stop for motor overheating. Ø Higher security, DOD and NSA higher standards are mandated and met with the appropriate HS models built specifically for the government’s latest standards (not needed by the average person or business) Ø All shredders should include solid, specially hardened steel cutting cylinders for a long life and continued uninterrupted usage. Q: Why should I worry about Identity Theft?

A: IDENTITY THEFT With so much personal information available to so many different individuals and agencies, the risk of having your identity used in a fraudulent manner is extremely high. Protect yourself by shredding documents containing personal information as soon as you no longer need them. Credit card applications received in the mail, convenience checks from your credit card companies, insurance forms, medical records, bank statements, and charge receipts. It is essential that you know the major resources to contact in case you become a victim of identity theft. When contacting authorities or financial institutions, be sure to keep a log detailing the conversation including the date, time, and name and phone number of the agency contacted. Confirm all conversations in writing, keep copies of all letters and documents, and send correspondence certified mail (return receipt requested). Credit Bureaus If you suspect that someone has applied for and received credit using your personal information, immediately contact the fraud units of the three major credit reporting agencies: Experian (formerly TRW at 1-800-682-7654; Equifax at 1-800-525-6285; and Trans Union at 1-800-680-7289. Ask that a fraud alert be added to your account and add a 100-word victim’s statement to your report stating that your information was used to apply for credit fraudulently. Include a phone number where you can be reached to verify any credit applications. Not only do you need to contact the credit bureaus to make them aware of the situation, you should also ask for the names and numbers on the creditors with whom fraudulent accounts have been opened. Also, ask that they notify anyone who has received a copy of your report within the past six months to alert them of the erroneous information. Because simply notifying the bureaus may not entirely stop new fraudulent accounts from being opened, request to receive copies of your credit report every three months to verify that it contains the correct information. Creditors When you receive the names and phone numbers of creditors who have opened fraudulent accounts using your personal information, contact them by phone and in writing. They may ask that you fill out and notarize fraud affidavits, which could become costly. As law does not require notarization, a written statement and supporting documentation should be enough. You should also notify your existing accounts if any fraudulent activity has occurred and get replacement cards with new account numbers. The old accounts should be listed as “closed at consumers request” because “card lost or stolen” can be interpreted as your fault. Bank Accounts If your bank account information is used to set up a fraudulent account or checks are stolen, report the crime to the check verification bureaus: · CheckRite: (800)766-2748 · Chexsystems: (800) 428-9623 · Equifax: (800) 437-5120 · National Processing Co.: (800) 526-5380 · SCAN: (800) 262-7771 · TeleCheck: (800) 710-9898 Remember to put “stop payments” on all questionable outstanding checks that you are unsure of, and cancel existing checking and savings accounts. Open new accounts with new account numbers. If your ATM card has been stolen get a new card and change the password. Social Security Number If you have your Social Security Number used in fraudulent transactions, contact the Social Security Administration. You may change your number as a last resort, if you meet the SSA’s fraud victim criteria. You may also order a copy of your Earnings and Benefits Statement to check it for accuracy. It is a good idea to do this once every three years as a precaution. The number to call for SSN fraud is 1-800-269-0271. To order your Earnings and Benefits Statement, call 1-800-772-1213. If indeed this has occurred, go to your local DMV to request a new number and put a fraud alert on your old license number. The DMV investigation office also requires that you fill out a complaint form and supply supporting documents. Report any identity theft crime to local law enforcement and give them all of the documentation available to you. Ask for a copy of the police report and keep it on hand in case creditors or other agencies request to see it. Unfortunately, victims are still required to resolve the problem of identity theft on their own. Supply all agencies with appropriate information and contact all agencies involved. Just remember that if you suspect you are a victim of identity theft, it is important that you act quickly and assertively to minimize the damage. Q: How fast do I need the shredder to shred?

A: Intimus emphasizes cost efficiency. Capacities are specific as "per pass" or how much an operator can insert at one time. We carefully measure the fpm (feet per minute) of material each shredder can shred. This tells you the amount of time you will be using the shredder per foot of continuous material you have to shred. This specification is essential in determining the shredder for your needs. Generally, strip cuts are faster than cross cut versions.
